About Cool Hand

What does Cool Hand Western Productions do?

Cool Hand Western Productions is a full-service rodeo and western event production company operating nationwide. We handle production management, promotion, and sponsorships end-to-end: talent booking, vendor coordination, budgets, contracts, communications, marketing, and sponsor activation. Recent productions include the Uber One Rodeo and Old Santa Ynez Days.

Where do you produce events?

Nationwide. We travel for the right event and have the network of talent, vendors, and sponsors to land a production anywhere in the United States.

Do you only work in certain regions?

No. We produce rodeos and western events anywhere in the country. The model travels with us: talent network, sponsor relationships, vendor coordination, on-site command.

What kinds of events do you handle?

Rodeos, western-themed concerts, and branded activations. Recent work includes the Uber One Rodeo (2025), a full-spectrum branded rodeo activation, and Old Santa Ynez Days (June 2025).

Services in detail

What's included in end-to-end rodeo production?

Everything from the first planning meeting to the closing announcement: arena direction, talent and stock contractor booking, vendor coordination, budgets and contracts, communications across the run-up and on event day, and on-site command. We answer to one phone for the duration of the event so the venue and staff aren't chasing decisions across multiple parties.

Do you provide announcers, judges, and stock contractors?

Yes. We book the full talent roster: announcers, judges, stock contractors, rough stock, timed-event cattle, specialty acts (clowns, trick riders, drill teams), and music and audio crews. We have a vetted working network nationwide, and we negotiate contracts and per-diems on the client's behalf.

What promotion services do you offer?

Media production for radio, TV, and print; social content and promotional video for the run-up to the event; press and media relations; website design and build for the event itself; and local market activation across the host city. The goal is to pack the stands before the gates open.

Do you build event websites for clients?

Yes. Website design and build is part of our promotion services. We design and develop event-specific websites alongside the broader marketing and sponsorship effort, so the digital home of the event matches the production's brand and integrates ticketing, sponsor placement, and run-of-show information.

How does sponsorship acquisition work?

We start with a target list of sponsors that fit the event: endemic partners (rodeo, western, agriculture, livestock) and non-endemic partners (consumer brands looking for an authentic western audience). We build pitch-ready packets with deliverables and audience data, run the outreach, negotiate the deals, and manage the partnership through the event and beyond. Sponsors come in at multiple levels, from title sponsorship down to single-segment activations.

What's a sponsor activation package?

The set of touchpoints, signage, on-site elements, and media moments a sponsor receives in exchange for their investment. We design these per event and per sponsor: branded arena dressing, on-air mentions during broadcast segments, branded barrel and chute signage, social content tagging, and curated experiential activations. Activation packages are tailored, not boilerplate.

Booking and process

How far in advance should I book a production?

Six to twelve months is typical for a fully produced rodeo. Promotion needs at least 90 days to land radio, TV, and print buys; sponsor packets benefit from 180+ days of lead time; venue and talent contracts close fastest with 6+ months. Tighter timelines are possible for smaller-scope events. Call us early to scope what's realistic.

What's the typical timeline from contract to show day?

After contract signing, weeks 1 to 4 are discovery, budget, and venue lockdown. Weeks 4 to 12 are talent and vendor contracts, sponsor outreach, and the marketing plan. Weeks 12 to event day are media buys, social ramp-up, sponsor activation, and run-of-show production. The final week is on-site setup and rehearsals. Exact schedule depends on event scope.

How much does a rodeo production cost?

Pricing depends on event size, venue, talent, and sponsorship strategy. A small municipal rodeo runs differently from a fully branded multi-day activation. We provide a custom proposal with a line-item budget after a discovery call. Reach out at (818) 437-2852 or Chris@CoolHandWesternProductions.com to get started.

What happens if there's bad weather on event day?

Outdoor rodeos always carry weather risk. Our planning includes weather contingencies: backup schedules, covered staging where possible, and clear communication protocols with the venue, talent, and ticket holders. We work with venue policies on rain delays, postponements, and refunds, and we recommend organizers carry weather insurance for high-investment activations.
